  1. OK...here we go...

I just bought my first ever DVD Burner today. It is a BenQ DW822A Dual Layer burner. It's specs are 8x burn and 12x read for DVD's. It also has an 8mb buffer.

My computer is a few years old and isn't as fast as most of todays...it's a 733mhz with 512mb RAM and 20GB hd.

I installed the Burner and made sure I downloaded and installed the latest Firmware update.

Then I used DVD Decrypter to rip the ISO file. I noticed right away that my read speeds were no where near 12x and more like 3x.
I also used DVD Decrypter to burn the ISO Image to a blank DVD-R.

Everything, besides the slow speeds, went apparently fine. I did notice that it was only burning at like 1.5-2.5x though. Also, what made me worried was that my Buffer while reading was almost maxed out the entire time!? But DVD Decrypter said there were NO errors at all.

I went to play the DVD-R in my Apex DVD Player and it played, but the problem was that it would play like 10 seconds, and then freeze for like 3 seconds and then play for 10, and freeze for 3 etc...etc...it just kept doing this until I stopped playing it!?

I don't know if the word to describe it is "choppy" or whatever...but even the time on the DVD players display would stop completely for 3 or so seconds...

Am I doing anything wrong?? Could computer speed have any bearing on this??

    THANKS GUYS!
