I am new to DV capturing. I have a Panasonic GS120 MiniDV. I have used 6-8 capture programs to capture through Firewire. If I capture straight DV-AVI I can only capture about 1/2 minute. If I capture with a variable bite rate I can get up to 4 minutes. All programs I've tried do this. I have an AMD 2200+ system with 1GB ram and a clean 30 GB hard drive formated with NTFS and XP Pro OS.
Any clues what the problem might be?
Thanks!!!

well for one - DV is not capturing but simply a file transfer as the compression is already done ...
so i have no idea what you mean by VBR as DV is a fixed bit rate only ..
maybe you are encoding to another format while transfering DV ?
if so - that is another issue ..."Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650)
