  1. An application as friendly as Virtual Dub would be nice.

    Best one possible; least likely to lose quality, etc.

    Hello,
    Try Tmpgenc 2.57 (or newest version). Go to file, mpeg tools, multiplex. If you want to edit out scenes choose the edit tab, I think thats the one. Give it a try.

    I use Womble Mpeg-vcr for all my mpeg editing stuff, it's very quick and accurate, a lot more so than TMPGenc, although it will cost you. There are a lot of basic one-task mpeg mergers - a good one is MPEG Joiner
    ( http://www.media4pc.com/mpeg-join/ ) again not free but 30 day trial.

    Probably the best free mpeg editor is Mpeg2Schnitt
    ( http://www.mdienert.de/mpeg2schnitt/ ) A German tool but English version is selectable from within program.
