I want to make my own PVR. I was thinking of buying a ATI HDTV card. But I can't seem to find out if it has hookups to the Satelite box to record certain channels like Tivo and replayTV. Anyone know if this is possible? Or do you have to have it on the channel that you want to record?

Unless someone has developed a hack, you have to have the PVR set to the channel you want to 'capture' with the ATI card.
There are data ports on the back of many IRDs, which could provide a means by which to do what you want to do. However, I have never seen a setup posted that will do it. -

Thanks for the link. I am totally surprised by this. You would think that a company would jump all over this and supply the need. I guess I could write a script with autoit to push the buttons on that program. Very surprised people are not crying out for this option.

Just as a side note, I was way too lazy to look a this beyond bookmarking it. Good luck.
