These aren't the best I've seen, but I just recently saw two sleeper movies that were excellent - Mystic River (Sean Penn, Tim Robbins) and Monster (Charlize Theron, Christina Ricci). Mystic River is a whodunnit with some excellent acting and some twists, and Monster was equally good. Charlize Theron "skanked down" for the part - no makeup, gained a bunch of weight, had dental appliances to make her look like a dimwit, butchy redneck trailer-trash type. She was replusive. Good acting
Both movies get the Capmaster thumbs-up

One of the best I've seen so far this year was Spiderman 2. Was as good if not better than the first one.

It's a very interesting documentary too.
Also, check out one of Charlize Theron's earlier roles in 2 Days In The Valley (where she looks her very best) and compare that with Monster - there are some major differences there
Not a new movie or subject, but was released not that long ago on DVD...the 1976 version of Helter Skelter is definitely worth checking out. Steve Railsback is just as amazing in how he portrayed Charles Manson - very well-made movie! -
Last night I actually just saw "The Butterfly Effect" and surprisingly I liked it. I kinda doubted I would since when I think drama the first thing that comes to my mind is NOT the punkd guy but it was cool.

another one, not a new film but a new version - I watched the 30th anniversary dvd of Blazing Saddles last night, and it looks amazing. If you like that movie*, you should run out and pick it up without delay.

I also enjoyed the butterfly effect, Gothika was pretty good as was paycheck. Just watched Starsky and Hutch which I was looking forward to, but was pretty dissapointed in. Films I am looking forward to seeing next are Spiderman 2 and Shrek 2. Just hope they live up to the hype.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is probably my favourite up to now. I was surprised by how much I actually enjoyed it, even the second time.Wrap the tape firmly around the hamster... -

Saw the documentary Supersize Me last week, thought it was a good film.
Nice mix between his personal view and the issue overall. -
