Hello,
I have an ASUS P4P800 Deluxe. After changing a P4 and memory, it would not post, nothing on screen. Powers on, hear it kcick in the hard drive but nothjing on screen.
I went back to old processor and memory and same problem, NO BEEP code at all. Nothing.
PSU powers up, motherboard light lights up, I have cleared CMOS, but it will not boot.
Is my motherboard gone ???? Help quick please.

Make sure the video card did not come loose.
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they? -
Yeah, did that too. Uggg. I hope I didn't scratch or fry the board but I just ordered another anyway.....THIS SUCKS. All I was doing was upgrading CPU, have done it many times. Very careful, etc.
Thing is fans power up, hard drive starts, but no post beeps and no sub beeps (after post) All fans working and I cleared CMOS. Tried to boot withouty CPU and that would not spin drives so that makes sense, but how could it get to drives if its not really posting ??? Could it be the video card in which case I ordered a mob for nothing ??? Arggg -
Put in an el-cheapo PCI video card to check.

Tried last night with another video card, no joy.
I just wish I could tell 100% if it is motherboard or powersupply. I have read that the PSU can be bad but still turn fans, etc...
Thing is, it almost boots. Lights up, fans turn, hard drive light and I hear hard drive for about 45 seconds to a minute, then stops like it was at a prompt or message that I am not seeing. Pretty sure its the board though as I had just been changing the processor and memory. I might have scratched a pathway or something or shocked something even though I took precautions.
If I got SOME code I could debug but this is no mans land...LOL -
Arcorob,
I've fixed several computers with the condition you describe and every time it has been the power supply. It's been my experience that a power supply only has about 4 or 5 years of life but when they're going out they make your computer seem like it has other problems such as the video card or the CPU overheating.
I just replaced the power supply in my computer. The machine kept choking after just a few minutes of operation, flash the blue screen of death and then reboot. Windows was no help. All it said was that Windows has recovered from a serious error and when I sent the error report Windows claimed it was the video drivers. Not so.
Fortunately the rear fan bearings of the power supply started making a grinding noise and I could feel there wasn't any exhaust air coming out of the rear of the power supply. In fact the bearings were so locked up that not even compressed air would spin the fan. I installed a new power supply and everything is fine.
Anyway swapping out the power supply would be my first choice.
Good luck.Evil flourishes when good men do nothing. -
Thanks friend...Just bought a 550 watt TOP name supply to try...The old one was going anyway AND I do run ALOT ....6 hard drives for example....LOL
Will let you know
