I've just downloaded all eight episodes of Red Dwarf 8. They're all in avi format and I want to put them onto DVD with menus and chapters.

I've read several of the guides, but am a little uncertain how to proceed. I appreciate the initial part of the advice is probably a little toward conversion, so apologies for that.

    1) I assume I need to convert to DVD format first. Should I join them all together(then convert) or convert each one separately?

    2) Would using something like TMPGENC DVD Author then be a good program to use? I see it creates the menu and chapters if you want it to. I assume that if I keep all the episodes separate, I would import each one and they would become menu options.

    3) Any other step I'm missing here?

    Thanks

    1. convert all separate. or use an all-in-one dvd converter (see our tools section).

    2. yep, tmpgenc dvd author is easy and good. you can easy import each converted episode and make them play continueslery or just return to the menu for each.

I just tried what you said with some AVI files I have on my machine... The Tmpgenc DVD Author told me the files needed to be MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 and rejected my request to add the files... Went to the guide like a good little boy and right at the top it says... "NOTE!! be sure your clip is dvd mpg"

Maybe something has to be disabled in order to import AVI files?

    Thanks,

    Maxx

  4. You skipped Baldrick's step number one. They need to be converted first, then impotred into the authoring program.
