  1. A friend of mine has a standalone player that, according to him, it should play dvd-r only, however it plays some dvd+r's.
Is the player hacked?. A coincidence?. A picky player?
Maybe he thinks it only plays dvd-r but it actually plays dvd+r as well!
Anyone with the same experience here?
Give a person a fish and you feed them for a day; teach that person to use the Internet and they won't bother you for weeks

Have you noticed that a slight tax increase costs you two hundred dollars and a substantial tax cut saves you thirty cents?

  2. Many players are rated to play DVD-R but not DVD+R. That generally means that it wasn't TESTED for DVD+R.

In all likelihood, it will play DVD+R just fine.

  3. coincidence, picky, lucky...may just depend on how old the player is. I have a 4 yr old Toshiba SD1600 that so far will not play +R at all. I have 2nd newer Toshiba that will. Slightly newer models than mine may be just fine. So even though it may not state it and may not have been tested, your friends player may be new enough that it does work.
