Not sure if I'm describing this correctly, but I'll try.
I went on tour with a band, shot 13 shows, and now I want to edit together music videos from each song they played, using the 13 different "angles" I've got. The reason it's not as simple as syncing them all up and then going, is because I'm not using CD audio, I'm going to use the best audio from one of those shows. While this won't provide me with the BEST syncing, will it be adequate? Would you guys happen to have a good suggestion for editing this one?
I'm thinking of throwing all the shows into 13 different video tracks. And replacing preferred angles into one master track. And locking the audio from the best source.... all the other shows I won't even bring down the audio, hell maybe I won't even capture it. (Although maybe it's a good idea to capture since syncing won't be 100% perfect and I may want it.)
Thanks guys, I know you have the solution for this kinda thing.
Oh by the way, I'm using Premiere Pro... and I'd like to remain using Premiere Pro... BUT, if Sony Vegas 5.0 has some kickass way of implementing this, then MAYBE I would change. However, Premiere Pro is definetey preferred, since I already purchased the darn thing.
Thanks again,
C.I.

Just to clarify, I'm doing this song by song, and the reason the song won't sync up exactly is because sometimes they may play it a little slower/faster/make mistakes/etc...

I have another question about technique.
Should I be taking advantage of the nested sequence feature? Should I add a nested sequence for each song I'm editing together and keep my main timeline for the actual documentary footage in between?
Problem is, I know how these features work in Premiere (or at least a decent grasp on it) it's just the technique that I'm unsure of. I'd like to make sure I'm doing it in the most efficient way possible.
Any ideas? -
you might not be getting much help because "multi angle" usually refers to dvd authoring, not the editing of a multi-camera shoot.
in your shoes I would do this:
- put each video (with audio) in seperate tracks
- figure out which audio track is the best one.
- synch all your video to the master audio track.
- delete all other audio tracks.
- minimize your tracks and move them so you can watch all of them at the same time in the preview window.
- connect a microphone and arm an audio track.
- play the video. when you see a shot you like, say the track number.
when you go back to do the edits, you will have an audio guide to do your initial cut.- housepig
