  1. Hi guys

Can anyone help me make a trailer for a home authired DVD, you know the ones like 20TH Century Fox etc. I just want a small video clip with sound to appear at the start of every DVD I make.
Any help would be much appreciated.
I currently use TMPGEnc to author my DVDs if this helps at all.
Maybe their is a special program for the puropse I need ?

Do you want it CGI? Animated Text? Text with Music? That's 3 different approaches.

Most software that will do that runs over $100, some over $1000. I guess it all depends on how "glitzy" your ego wants it.

I have a clean simple one done in Adobe Premiere I used for my TV eps to DVDs I make. Took me a few days to get it just right (joys of making Stereo music in 5.1).

if you're asking how to put it at the beginning of the dvd, look for a "first play item" in your authoring software.

if you're asking how to make one from scratch, personally I use Vegas 4.

If you're using TmpgEnc Dvd Author, then when you start a new project couldn't you just use your short into clip as the 1st track?

If you have the $$$ and time to learn Adobe After Effects you can make some very nice video. It's awsome! I used it to create a video to do exactly what you're asking about...a DVD intro. If you're interested in seeing it, here's the URL:

Of course, I'm only using it for my personal home videos. If I decide to do something for $$$, I'll change the music.

there's another piece of software you should try out... since it's free.

Wax, by Satish Kumar. It's got some interesting 3D and compositing abilities.

Another inexpensive solution for creating 3D graphic animation (it was recommended in another forum) is Macrografx Simply 3D. It's available at 5dollarsoftware.com (http://store.yahoo.com/5dollarsoftware/misi3d.html) for, of course, five dollars. I haven't used it so I don't know much about it. I just thought I'd share the link.

Xara 3D (http://www.xara.com/products/xara3d/default.asp) is yet another inexpensive software package. I have used it and I think, for $45, it's pretty darn good. I use it more for web graphics than video, though, since I paid the big $$$ for After Effects.

Great! Then I accomplished my goal. I wanna keep the viewer guessing for a few seconds. Now that I look at it again, I can see why you thought it was a guitar at first!
