can i use winzip or some other compression tool to compress .vob files, i travel lots and don;t want to carry around my dvds. if i compress them, will it hurt the quality when un-compressing to watch?

Short of encoding to a smaller size compressing with a program such as winzip or winrar wont reduce the file much and uncompressing would give the exact same file again anyways.
I think,therefore i am a hamster. -
the only way to reduce the size a lot is to convert to another compressed format like divx or xvid but you will then lose some quality.
