TMPGEnc error reports

Hallo again,
my TMPGEnc v2.521.58.169 suddenly out of nowhere refuses to do his job.
1) When I press the Settings-TAB the TMPGEnc windows simply closes
and disappears from the screen.
2) While trying to load a template I get the following error messages:
"Read error occured at address BFF7A125 of modul KERNEL32.DLL
with 0092FF10" followed by "Failed to refer to Tab No. 0"
3) With another error " Runtime error 216 at 0003D820" TMPGEnc
crashes.
I reinstalled the KERNEL32.DLL but no change.
I´m running Win98SE and DVD2AVI v1.77.3 is installed correctly and
the Avi has no bad frames, DirectShow Multimedia File Reader was set to 1.
Anybody who has a suggestion or a good advice? I would be glad.

have you tried re-installing TMPGEnc?

Yes I tried this as well as re-installing the Mole Templates which I use.
Even cleaning the registry of old remains of a former installation did
not bring anything. The curious thing is that the program worked fine
just a couple of days ago.
