  1. I'm trying to edit my wedding video. I don't have the original avi that was captured from the digital tape (long story, it's in another city). All I have is the DVD that was made out of the AVI with TMPGenc Plus 2.5 and TMPGENC DVD Author (it was only used to burn to DVD, no menus or editing were done). I did the audio as PCM as I wanted it to be 100% compatible. I will probably make the end result in AC3. I demuxed (I think that's the term) the files from the DVD so now I have an m2v and a wav file. I'm tried doing some editing in Vegas 5, but you can't open an m2v files in Vegas...I tried doing it in Premiere but it errors out every time I try to open the m2v file. I tried to convert the two files to an avi file with VirtualDub-MPEG2 but the avi file was too big for my hard drive (I have about 45 gigs left on a 60 gig HD), even though the original AVI was about 15 gigs that was compressed down to about a 4.2 gig MPEG 2 file. How should I go about doing some editing and adding some pizazz to my video? Thanks for the input for this newbie.

Take your original DVD (VOB) files and use Womble Mpeg Video Wizard. You can add titles and transitions, add an audio track and it will only re-encode the parts of the video that have changed. It will output an mpeg that you can then re-author with your favorite program.

  3. I think I may trying out the demo of Womble Mpeg Video Wizard. I think I am also going to download the 15 Gig AVI file that was rendered from the DV tape via AIM. If that's successful, do you think I'd have a problem importing a 14 gig AVI file into Vegas or Premiere?

I don't use either program but you shouldn't have a problem.
