    Hello,
I was inspired by the Matrix 1 dvd that has the soundtrack only option. It's cool but I'd like to do that and keep the original bass (.1) intact. I have soundtracks to several movies and would like to make single chapter music videos with original bass.

My plan is to rip the vob, convert to 6 wavs, merge soundtrack wavs with bass, then remix and convert to ac3.

My question is will this work? I've used besweet a few times and its good. Will the sync get out of wak? I just want to do it for a chapter or two so size and processing time isn't an issue.

Also, when reencoding will Tmpeng or others not like the self made ac3?

Any thoughts or experience would be useful. Thanks in advance.

  2. Why not just demux the audio one chapter at a time? Pick the 2.1 track and demux just that stream with DVDecrypter in IFO mode. Select Stream processing and unselect all but the 2.1 track. Then unselect all chapters except the chapter you want to convert.

    Hello,
Thanks for writing. I know how to get the .1 off the vob using besweet. What I want to do is remux audio clips with the .1. If this can be done easier with dvddecyper I might try it. I want to author my own ac3 file with the bass. Any thoughts?
    Thanks.

  4. So you just want to downconvert the 5.1 AC3 file to a 2 channel stereo file? Why do you want to keep it as an AC3 file then? Just use Besweet or Headac3he (my preference) to convert it to Vorbis or MP3 or WAV.

    Hello,
I think I should have been more specific. I want to use the source .1 bass and mix my own 2.1 or 4.1 ac3 file. I want to make a music video using the video source, the bass file, and a new stereo wav file (combining them into a new ac3 to merge with the original video). I don't know if this is possible but I'd lik to try using besweet and reauthoring the dvd file.

P.S. The idea is to make a video clip of the original with just the bass file intact mixed with music only from the soundtrack cd.

  6. OK, so for the first step you just want to extract the LFE channel? Then in the second step you want to add that to a different 2 channels?

If so, then I would demux with DVDecrypter like I said above, but then I would convert that to a mono .wav file with headac3he and unselect all but the LFE channel. That way you would have a .WAV of the LFE channel and your other stereo file (presumably also in .wav format). I would then import them into Audacity so you can make sure they are sync'ed up. From there you could either combine them into a 2 channel stereo mix or export them into 3 seperate .wav files for conversion back into a 2.1 AC3 file.

    Hello,
ThAT'S IT! You've nailed it. I haven't used those two particular programs before so I'll have to test them out. Thanks for being patient. I think this will be fun, having my own mixed digital video with the original bass. Have a nice day.
