Firstly I'm a newbie so appologies if this has been covered before.
I have looked on previous postings to resolve my problem, to no avail.
I have an LG DA 3620 home cinema DVD player, which will not play any of my home movies made with Pinnacle studio 8 and also when rendered to AVI file format and then burned using the latest version of Nero.
I have also tried Sonic My DVD?
I have tried several combinations of media, ie, Lite-on and Ritek and Ridisc disks, both + - and RW.
I wrote to LG to try and resolve my problem and they stated :-
Your unit only plays DVD and certain CDR +- disks and MP3.
    What do they mean "DVD".
I thought that the two main standards of DVD were DVD+ and DVD- with type 5 and 9 respectively and 4x or 8x.
I have tried lots of differing combinations of software and disc media to try and sort my problem.
My standalone player ejects the DVD saying "error disc not recognised"
However...... there is a "fly in the ointment" so to speak.
My disks play in my sons cheap and nasty standalone player and also a few of my familys. Also, I was recently loaned a pirate disc to which I DO NOT condone . But....with my current problems I thought I would give it a try and play it.
Its of low quality DVD media, ie AITA DVD-R 4x.
Low and behold the disc plays 100% OK.

Why cant I make a disk with the same type and format that plays?
P.S. the pirate disc was politely returned.
Any help would be greatfully appreciated.
My PC/system build is on my profile and I use ALL upto date programs and drivers etc with all non esential TSR progs shutdown inc anti-virus/ screen/power & monitor disabled with no keyboard strokes and mouse actions at all.

    HELPPPPPPP please?

  2. Is this your DVD Player....

Possiby one of the people make a post for this machine may have some feedback.

Try downloading several other authoring / burning programs (my favorite is DVD Movie factory)... burn a few DVD's and test 'em out.

If you still have access to that one dvd that worked ... try a DVDInfoPro to determine Original Mfg.... the go by more of those disks....

  4. Were you able to play it on your computer with a program like Power DVD? When you open the disc with windows explorer is there an empty AUDIO_TS folder and your movie files in the VIDEO_TS folder?

    Hi,
I used power DVD and the disk plays 100% OKi n my PC, complete with a complex set of chapters/scene selections etc .
I also used DVDInfoPro to check both the home movie disk and the pirate playable disc and they were all virtually identical, except for the movie lenth.
They were even burned with Ahead Nero.
I also checked the Video_TS folder and there are video files there, but there is no Audio_TS folder on the homemovie disk.
I honestly don't know where to look now.......
    help..................

    Hi everyone.
    Can anyone help me please?

  7. From what I read on this site some DVD players need the AUDIO_TS (notice all caps)folder to be playable. Nero adds this folder when you select the DVD video template.

    Hi edlav

    Thanks for the reply.
I checked my home movie disk and low and behold, no AUDIO_TS folder.
However, I did use the Nero DVD template to produce the disk........
I'll reburn a copy with this folder included and see what happens.
    Thanks for the help.
    Cheers.

    Hi Hardcoreruss.

I imported (via Pinnacle studio 8) from my Pannasonic DV camcorder then authored the result in AVI using Studio 8 as that is what most people tell me to do, then saved the result as an AVI file for Nero Vision express (latest version) to burn.
    Hope that helps.....?

  13. I would have a look at the guides section on the left and convert using different programs. It may be a bit more long winded but the end result would be much better.

I personally would use the following programs (in this order)

    virtualdub
    tmpgenc
    tmpgenc dvd author
nero (to burn only, no converting)

Check out the guides on the left.
    If it's wet, drink it
