Currently my computer is connected to my big screen television in my living room, and I watch my divx movies there.
I was considering converting my divx movies into vcd format so that I could play it on my stand alone dvd player in my living room. But when i converted one of the divx movies, the size of the movie file increased to almost 4 times the original! It just takes way too much space.
It would be nice to be able to play it on my dvd player, but I'm not sure if it's worth it cause of the sheer amount of cd's that I'd be using/wasting to do it.

Well, based on your setup and what you've said, then no it isn't worth it to you. For me it is. Though I don't have any divx movies, I have quite a few high bitrate ASF and RealVideo files and have burned them to a few VCDs.
I just like the convenience of being able to pop a disc into my DVD player and watching it without having to fire up the PC. But then again, the PC isn't in a convenient place for watching movies.
The interesting thing about it, is that since these files aren't of the highest quality to begin with, I can use Sefy's SeVCD template and burn a movie on a single ScVCD disc.
