  1. I have Panny E80 and would like to use Ram due to less pixelation when copying 3 hours worth of show and then convert into DVD-R so do you know of any drive that can read RAM and what authoring program do you recommend?

Would like to hear your input before I shop.

    Thanks!

  2. You don't have to spend a lot of money to buy a DVD-Ram writer, many DVD-Rom (readers) are compatible with DVD-Ram media.

    Toshiba SD-1612 / 1712 / 1812 reads DVD-Ram.

  3. I have the LG DVD burner to read and write DVD-RAM and i have the Panasonic E80. The LG work with DVD-RAM works as a removabel hard drive when you install the DVD-RAM driver's you can even download software on DVD-RAM just like you do o a hard drive. www.newegg.com has them.

ioMega (remember, Zip) makes also DVD-RAM writers. They are same as LG. It supports all formats, +,- and RAM.

Except that there is no SD-M1812, only SD-M1802 and it doesn't read DVD-RAM. The SD-M1802 doesn't even show up on Toshiba's US website any more. The LG, Lite-On, and Samsung's current DVD-ROM drives are also able to read DVD-RAM discs.

Why does anyone need a DVD-RAM writer, if he/she only needs to read DVD-RAM discs and write to DVD-R discs? The Pioneer DVR-107D/A07 can also read DVD-RAM discs, just in case you also need a DVD burner.

I'm getting conflicting info about that. When i bought my Pioneer DVR-107D, i'm sure the specs at the site listed DVD-Ram as a compatible format but Nero Info Tool doesn't.

Do i need to install "InCD" (Nero 6) before it shows up?

There was report that earlier version of the Pioneer 107D had trouble reading certain formats of files from DVD-RAM discs, but Nero Info Tool should report DVD-RAM compatibility without any problem. See, for example, the middle part of the following page:

    http://www.cdrlabs.com/reviews/index.php?reviewid=225&page=Features

or the ASUS model which is a rebadge of the Pioneer 107D:

Try updating the firmware and Nero Info Tool to the latest version, and see if there's any improvement?

GCC-4120B is LG's DVD-ROM drive model name. The new burner is GSA-4120B and it's 12x, not 8x for DVD+R. It's a DL drive but no DL media is bundled at least in South Korea.

I think this is the best DVD-all burner for US$70.

    http://www.pc-success.co.jp/hyouka-p.php?prd_cd=P0303062500-010

    8x DVD+R 8x DVD-R 4x DVD+RW 4x DVD-R 3x DVD-RAM

GSA-4120B is more like US$100. It adds 12x DVD+R (SL), 2.4x DVD+R DL, and 5x DVD-RAM. But the price will soon come to US$80 and then US$50, especially with the arrival of 16x DVD+R writers.

The last time i checked it was before "The Big Crash". I rechecked it, two weeks after my Windows reload and it seems fine now.

Must have been another cause for the problem.
