Had this problem a while now and originally figured the video had no audio...

But my PowerDVD doesnt seem to play DIVX's with AC3 audio.

    VirtualDub Avi informaton reports this:
    Sample rate: 48000Hz
    Channels: 5 (stereo)
    Sample precision: 0-bit
    Compression: Unknown (tag2000)
    Preload skew: 28000 samples (0.50s)
    # of frames: 63110
    min/avg/mx/total frame size: 28/2336/28000 (143971K)

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

  2. It sure sounds like AC3.

AVI's with AC3 audio are not played on Windows systems by default. A while back, someone created a filter that would allow it.

The filter i think, was named "MPGAudio.ax", but showed up as "AC3 from AVI XForm" to directshow.

An alternative filter would be; AVI <-> AC3/DTS Filter

Third party players such as Media Player Calssic have the filter built right in.
