Strange E-mails

I got this e-mail and I dont know what it is, I didn't send it and I scanned my computer for viruses. Nothing.

Habe eben im Fernsehen einen Bericht gesehen, in dem klar hervorging, dass libenesiche und kurdische Moslems in Berlin die Drogenszene und teilweise sogar das Rotlicht-Milieu beherrschen. Der Clou an der Geschichte ist jedoch, dass die Libanesen, die in kriminelle Aktivitaeten verwickelt und Millionen scheffeln, ebenfalls vor dem Sozialamt erscheinen um ihre Sozialhilfe einzufordern. In einigen Szenen im Berliner Sozialamt, konnte man vor lauter Kopftuecher nicht einmal mehr die Waende sehen!Wenn man da bedenkt, dass die Gruenen sich im Moment gegen ein strengeres Immigrations-und Asylgesetz querlegen, kann man nur noch mit Hoffnungslosigkeit und Kopfschuetteln reagieren. Interessant an dem Bericht war ebenfalls, dass Justiz und Politik bisher nicht mit der gebotenen Staerke gegen solche Umtriebe vorgegangen ist, aus Angst man koennte ihnen Auslaenderfeindlichkeit und Rechtslastigkeit vorwerfen! Die Auswirkungen von soviel Dummheit und falscher Toleranz werden wir noch alle bitter bereuen muessen!

If you don't know anyone on the email list, it may be someone is spoofing your email address and sending stuff that seems to be originating from your address. Happened to me. I got one of those type of messages back from my ISP that 'my' email had been refused by a commercial company that had refused a porn ad that I was recorded as sending. I had to dump my email address before my ISP banned me in error. Those were just the emails that were refused. There may have been some that went through. If those email addresses are in your computer, you have a trojan that is running in your machine.

none of those e-mails are in my computer, this seems to only happen once or twice a week.

Should I contact my ISP (comcast) about it. Can they fix it or do i need to make a new screen name?

Somebody that has your e-mail address in their Outlook address book (or something similar on their local hard drive) has gotten themself infected with any one of the countless Windows mass-mailing/self-propogating worms. Or, some spammer has your address in their spoof-database and is pretending to be you. A smart worm will pretend to be from a legit address (an address it can find on a local drive, like your address) to prevent servers from bouncing it back for being fake (like hkjshdkj@hotmail.com or whatever).

There is absolutely nothing you can do to stop it. Chances are, one of your friends/aquaintances is to blame (again, somebody with your address in their address book), but to determine which one is near impossible.

My Mom has had countless numbers of those bounce-backs. I've been starting to see them lately. It's becoming a fact of life online. I simply ignore them.

Either live with it, or change your address. Changing your address will simply prevent you from seeing the bouncebacks, it won't stop the worm(s) from spoofing it anymore. Comcast can't do anything about it. It's like spam, once they start using it, it'll never stop.

Chances are, if the recipient(s) that do get the e-mail pretending to be from you and they have half-a-brain, they'll realize it's spam and just ignore it -- if not by the message contents/subject, by the raw mail headers. Mind you, if some people online had half a brain, there wouldn't be half the crap that there is now, so forget I said that

I've been getting some strange e-mails too saying mail I sent to listed addresses was undeliverable. Problem is, I don't know the addresses and never sent the mail. Do you suppose it's an address book virus? My machine runs Symantec Anti-Virus and it says the machine's clean.
