  1. Hello all,

I have a Pioneer 220-S recorder which produces two types of output on a -RW disk: DVD-Video (requires Finalize to be compatible) or DVD-VR (useless unless you play in the Pioneer, or the PC). Now...Pioneer produces players that have the "RW Compatible" logo on them. This indicates you can play a DVD-VR disk on it and presumably without finalizing it. Are there other players known which will play the Pioneer's DVD-VR disks?

    Thanks!

    The Sony DVP-NC675P and DVP-NS575P

    DVP-NC675P Spec

    DVP-NS575P Spec

and all the Panasonic models which are compatible with DVD-RAM can also play DVD-RW discs in the DVD-VR mode. Basically all models in the following link except the DVD-S25K/S models:

VR is not Pioneer proprietary "standard", so in future there will be more players supporting it than those ones listed here.
