  1. Can someone please explain the following point mentioned in the latest NeroVision Release Notes:

    -----
NeroVision Express now requests for AC3 encoded file the channel output number the same as for input
    ------

Does this mean if I add an AVI file with 5.1 Dolby Digital, Nero will keep the 5.1 sound intact when transcoding the file to DVD?

    Thanks...

  2. I believe they mean use 6-channel input if you want 6-channel output.

There's a Ms app that will allow you to make multichannel audio files out of multiple files but i can't remember where exactly you find it.

    Uses "Wav-Form Extensible".

So if I choose to create a DVD in NeroVision Express and add an AVI file encoded with 5.1 Dolby Digital audio, this will result in a DVD with the same 5.1 Dolby Digital audio?

  4. I belive you'll need the Nero Multichannel Plugin.

If you don't have it then NeroVision will initially decode to 2 channels. So it wouldn't technically have the 6-channels to reencode with.

You could just encode the Video to M2V format. Then demux the AC3 and Re-Author with the very same. If it's already 5.1 sound, then there's no reason to reencode it.

    Have you tried DVDAuthorGUI?

I do have the Nero Multi-Channel plugin. I will have to experiment further but the one test I did do converted the 5.1 AC3 audio of an AVI file to only 2 channels when I tried to create a DVD. That was using this latest version of NeroVision Express.

What has been working is using the MainConcept Encoder to do the video and demuxing the AC3 audio with VirtualMod and then authoring with Tmpgenc DVD Author (or sometimes Ulead's DVD Workshop). This works but NeroVision could potentially offer "one stop shopping" when it comes to creating DVDs from AVIs with AC3 5.1 audio.

  6. Well i just checked the plugin page at Nero and it doesn't claim to encode 5.1 Multichannel.

I guess i should have checked before i spoke up.

With the Multi Channel Plug-In, you have the possibility to enjoy
this revolutionary surround sound both in Nero ShowTime and
    Nero Recode 2.

The Multi Channel Plug-In contains the following component:

    Dolby Digital 5.1 channel Decoder
    Dolby Digital 2 channel Decoder
    Dolby Digital 2 channel Encoder
    Pro Logic Decoder
    http://nero.com/us/Multichannel_Plugin.html

It doesn't mention the NeroVision in relation to the plugin either.
