    I am in the market for a new DVD writer. I am curring owning NEC 1300 and upgrading to a new one. I am also using Ritek G04 for media. After searching around, I know that NEC 2500 is able to burn G04 @8X. I am polling the opinions to see anyone is sucessfully to do that. Thanks for stopping by.

    I use Maxcel dvd+r 4x media and it burns at 6x.

    I also use 1.6 firmware that came with the drive.

    I flashed with 107vb5 or whatever it is and it told me it was going to burn at 8X, always got an error, no burn at all, disk still usable.

    Flashed back to 106, only burned 4X at 6X, but burns test good in DVDInfoPro, no errors at all.

    Have to go to Herrie Brothers to see what else they have.

    Not particularly concerned about DL, too expensive, price it is now, might as well buy another original as backup.
