  1. I've got a chance to rip some out of print material that I'm going to author to DVD. I've got the option of using a VHS that's in good condition or a laserdisc. Both would be either RCA, or S-Video out to my Dazzle capture device.

I haven't messed around with Laserdisc for a while......I would ASSUME laserdisc to be superior quality to VHS.....but it's been so long, I'm pretty sure I'm thinking about DVD quality. Isn't laserdisc lower quality? But still better than VHS right?

Any ideas....does it make a difference? Will I get noticeably better quality w/ the laserdisc?

    Thanks.

He he.....I joined this place when it was vcdhelp.com...........it changed to DVDRHELP.com................and now I come back and it's videohelp.com....

    He he.............what next? Doubledensitydvdhelp.com?

yep, the LD will be much better quality, both sound and picture. only thing you need to consider is stitching the files together after side changes, and make sure you use a decent player!

  3. Yeah, I'd say that Laserdisc would be the way to go. I've captured a bunch from Laserdisc and have had excellent success. No need for a TBC, which might be necessary with VHS.
