Same thing happened to me. Did you backup the DTS, and the 5.1 audio tracks? I copied both and when I put my disc into a player that didn't have a DTS decoder there was no audio. All I had to do was to switch the audio track with my remote and it worked.
-
I am also trying to backup my copy of Lion King 1.5 for the kids. I have tried all the methods listed in this post:
DVD Shrink - I have copied each movie (both 40s and both 41s) and eliminated the DTS
DVD Decrypter to DVD2ONE
DVDClone
Nothing has worked for me. The picture is always fine, but there is never any audio. Please help. Thank you. -
did you adjust the audio setting on the dvd player? Sometimes that helps. i had a situation like that once and I adjusted the audio setting on the dvd player and it worked.

DTS as audio1 stream is a no no. Make sure you remap AC3 as audio 1 during the ripping process.

it is not language. that is different. you should be able to change the audio that the player is outputting. Usually there is an audio button on the remote.

I have tried to hit the audio button. It takes me through the different audio options, but no sound comes out. Is there a way to burn the disc that makes it so the sounds works when you press play. I don't think my kids will know to scroll through the different audio options everytime they want to watch the disc. Thanks.

Here is the best way to back it up......
1) get DVDFAB...if you don't have it, a freeware version is available for download. https://www.videohelp.com/tools?toolsearch=dvdfab&SUBMIT=Search
2) use DVD Decrypter in "file mode" and put files on HD
3) open DVDFAB and strip out movie files
4) burn files with NERO, or whatever you use......The whole movie will strip out without any transcoding needed. -
I have ripped the movie to my hard drive with DVD Decrypter, but even when i go to play the movie that way there is no sound. Power DVD says: "Audio: Not Available". Any other suggestions? Thanks.

Here is what I did.....
Ripped to HD with DVDdecrypter
Compressed with DVDclone2 (all menus and such!)
Loaded ISO with Daemon tools
Burned to DVD-r with Roxio Media Creator 7
It plays great in comp and standalone

When you ripped the movie to your HD with DVD Decrypter were you able to open one of the movie files and hear sound with the movie. I can't do that when i rip the files.

No, i'm also having the problem with Remember the Titans, but I figured if i solve the problem with the lion king i can solve it with the othe one. i have done others since this problem that have worked fine. it is just these two.

after decrypting file(s) are you able to preview the sound in Shrink (reqs one of the later versions)?
-
Like another poster said, usually this problem occurs when you keep only the DTS track and try to replay the DVD on a PC or DVD player that can't decode the DTS track. If you kept only the DTS track, did you trying ripping it again with a different audio track?
-
I am unable to preview the sound in shrink. I download the latest version of Shrink on Monday.
I have tried ripping all the audio tracks, I have tried just the DTS, and I have tried just the AC3. I just can't get the audio to rip onto my HD for some reason. I am baffled because I have never had this problem with any of my other backups. Thanks. -
Anyone make any headway on this?
I am having this problem with other DVDs too (I don't remembe which ones at the moment.)
I wouldn't think it would have anythign to do with whether or not you "keep only the DTS track"...given that it won't even preview directly from the DVD before doing any ripping at all.
I too have been unsuccessful with DVD Decryptor.
I am wondering if it is some new thing being done to prevent copying. Thanks

I just checked the DVDShrink site, and the 'Localized older versions link" is a dead link.
I will check my files. I bet I have an older version somewhere on my drive. I guess I shouldn't upgrade if what I'm using works fine
Thanks for the reply.Thanks

your more than likely picking the wrong audio.
i used dvd decrypter 3.2.2.0 and ripped movie only, and another with all files, and then passed it through DVD2ONE.
i picked full disc for the "all files one" only removing the DTS soundtrack, and leaving all the others intact.
for the other i picked movie only and left in the english 5.1 and english DTS soundtracks and havent had a problem.
the only problem i get is that DTS is the preferred option on the dvd,and starts with that, pointless when my kids watch it on there bedroom setup and is only 5.1 compatible. -
I don't think it can be picking the wrong audio. It will NOT play with sound straight from the DVD in Preview in DVD Shrink. I think it is a problem with the latest version of DVD Shrink.
On DVD Decryptor, I don't remember what version I have. Since using DVD Shrink, frankly, I haven't done much with DVD Decryptor...except finding that when I copy with it I have the same results.
I'll do some more experimentaton and see how it goes. Thanks

are we talking about the version you can pick the original version,or the newly extended one.
because if so,you need to match the 2 streams (audio) with the right movie.
i had to pick which one i wanted, and went for the longest movie and the audio matched it.
arent there 2 versions of the movie on the disc.
if you use dvd2one,youll see that when you select movie only,or full whatever you pick, but it should give you a choice.
like if i pick movie only of a film, itll give me a list of all the different titles on it,like menu,1.2 etc, special features, setups, then the movie will be the longest, and not necesarrily(spelling!!) at the top of the list. -
Hmmm....I don't know. I think I have 3.1.7 installed, but what you are describing doesn't ring any bells for me.
But, for playing 'previews', I have always just put in the DVD, and it analyzes. I can then just click a title, and click play, and it will preview, with sound. On this movie, no sound.
To burn, I typically select re-author, and select the main title only, and eliminate all non English sound tracks, and burn...uh, rip.
Often there are 2 versions of a movie on the disk. I think that is the case with Lion King 1.5. Neither will preview with sound. Often the two versions are based on Wide Screen, and the other being modified for TV screen. They both looked like Wide Screen, so I don't know what the difference is on this DVD.Thanks

i cant remember bout this dvd,but im sure that the 2 versions are,the original theatre release, and then an extended version with a new song.
both have 5.1 audio.
if its the same movie im thinking of. -

There's only one version of Lion King 1.5 on the disc (straight to DVD). I've ripped and burned the movie only, and it worked fine. If I try to do a shrink, it screws up because of this weird game where you can press enter whenever you see Mickey mouse in the film, and it will tally your score.
I've never encountered the sound problem though.
