  1. Hello, I am still very new to this, and I just ordered some Ritek G04 Silver Matte DVD-Rs online. I found them on the slickdeals site for $66.00 per 100 discs at shop4tech.com, and thought damn what a great deal. I just got them in the mail today and what they did was send me four different 25 packs which is cool, but im not sure if they are Riteks or not. I heard there are fakes. How do I know. These four packs have no label on them at all. the discs them selves are silver, and the actual cases have no labels at all. Im a bit worried here, can anyone help? Has anyone shopped at shop4tech.com? Please help.

    thanks

    Get DVD Identifier (it's free)
Then stick a disc in your DVD Drive and it will tell you what dye is used on the disc.

  3. Of course, if they are good fakes, they will have the ritek media code anyways......

  4. I would use dvd identifier but i dont want to open these discs, and not be able to send them back if they are fakes because i opened them. i was juts wondering if the anyone else knew if ritek had 25 packs of silver matte finish dvd-r with no labels, or writing or anything at all? or if there was any way of telling if they were the ritek discs without opening the discs? thanks.

  5. The matte riteks I've seen have the words Ridata on the hub of the discs. Check the hub. BTW, there have been poor reports of service from shop4tech. Why not spend a few dollars more and get it from a reputable dealer like Rima.com or Newegg.com.

  6. I just got 200 of 'em and DVDinfo detect them as Ritek. Real Ritek or Fake is something that I would not know because I'm taking it from DVDinfo as they are real. And for the pricing drop doesn't necessary mean they are fake. Things like these tends to have drop dramatically especially when dual layer are starting to surface. Look at CDR before...I remember the first time I bought a 10 pack CDR for $50. Half a year later it was 10 disc for $10 and now 50 disc for $7 or even free after rebate. I can bet anyone, by next year or perhaps sooner, blank single sided DVD will be as low as $.25 per disc without rebates. BTW, so far I have no problem with these Ritek as I have already burn 60 of the 200.

  7. I always buy Ritek G04 matte finish discs and none of them has ever had a Ritek ID on the spindle. It sounds as if your are genuine.

yep, ritek g04 with white matte finish and no identifying marks for me too, must have had 150 of em so far.

there's no harm in opening yours, and checking. if it says g04, then that's fine - if it doesn't say g04 you can send them back, not sold as described.
