audio sync on dvd problems

At the moemnt I have some dvds that use pcm 2 channel audio but they all seem to have sync problems when I try to play the dvd on my dvd player when the setting is as follows
AUDIO OUT -> SPDIF RAW (ie pcm 2 channel. 5.1, DTS etc)

The particular dvds all have 2 channel PCM audio track.

The audio will play fine (no audio/video sync problems) if I set the dvd player to AUDIO OUT -> SPDIF PCM (ie pcm 2 channel only).

My dvd player: OMNI 3003D
AMP: Marantz SR5200

Any help determining weather an specific dvd player or an amplifier problem/setting.

Out of interest are you outputting to a plasma or lcd ?

Not familiar with your amp does it have upsampling ?

all component are routed through the marantz

then all sources are usualy output to the monitor source which is my tv LG Flatron tv which is a tubed television.


Just an update. I am using the Coaxial Digital output on the dvd player.

Just tried another dvd player (amoisonic av7000) but its somponent digital output is shit.

If its set to 2 channel pcm. You just get 2 channel pcm audio only. Which of course audio sync is fine. But there is no 5.1 or dts audio etc.

If you set to bitstream (multi channel) audio out then of course you get 5.1/dts/ dolby digital audio etc.
But in this mode 2 channel PCM tracks are not heard.

So I couldn't determin the problem is the dvd playter because the old dvd player doesn't fully suport pcm 2 channel audio.

Anybody else experience audio sync problems related to pcm audio soundtracks on dvd videos specifically in relation to digital out.
