I just bought a Panasonic DMR E50, and picked up some Maxells to go with it, just want to make sure they're OK.
Thanks

Maxell DVD-R discs are MADE IN JAPAN (even says so on the package) and as a result are one of the better DVD-R discs money can buy.
Another good brand (perhaps even better if that is possible) is Taiyo Yuden. Sometimes Maxell uses Taiyo Yuden DVD-R discs if they can't keep up with demand.
The last 10-pack of Maxell 4x DVD-R discs I bought at Wal-Mart had MEDIA CODE TYG01 which is Taiyo Yuden.
The Maxell discs are fairly cheap at Walmart but you can get Taiyo Yuden even cheaper if you are willing to buy them on-line in bulk (when I say in bulk I mean in 50 or 100 packs).

But the MAXELL discs are cheaper than the FUJI discs.

What about the bulk Maxell -R you get from amazon or newegg (not those fake ones of course)? Are those from Japan too?

Hopefully Maxell will continue this trend and only substitute TY's when volume becomes an issue. This makes Maxell dvd media a sure bet (which you can't say about any other major retailer).
I have been very pleased across the board....silver matte printables, white matte printables, yellow tops and +R (Ricoh's). Consistent quality that's worth the extra few bucks. -
uh? not to be an ass, but seriously did you bother to do a search here first?
maybe that' not obvious but it is best before wasting other's time take a few minutes of your own.
I know you're new... that probably sounds harsh. sorry... just advice going forward. -

it seems like it would be a bit pointless if eveyone started asking about what others thought... without first checking--not the media database but the forum! ,it would destroy this forum. I've been called on it myself I think.

Lobe, I just noticed we have the interesting distinction of being two strange people who mostly post in the media section.

I also post a lot in the off topic forum but most of my meaningful posts are in media. My point is that somebody like you so commited to DVD media can't be too much off-track.
