  1. Hi
Using tmpgenc I tried to convert Bridget Jones(DivX) to mpeg because i want to make a VCD. The avi was about 700 mb, what i got was an 2.7 Gb mpeg crystal clear picture but no sound so I deleted it. I then tried to extract the sound into a wav using virtualdub and making the conversion all over with separate sound source, again using tmpgenc. Virtualdub crashes when the sound is almost extracted(I got a wav of about 1 Gig). I canceled this method to and tried to cut the DivX in half using avichop. None of the resulting clips can be played windows mediaplayer crashes. I should mention that i used avichop before and it worked.
Does anybody got an idea about how to do this?

One funnt thing i noticed about avichop when i used it on the other movie was: The avi was about 650 Mb but after splitting it into 2 parts each part was 270 Mb, that means almost 100 Mb just disappeared!!???? But when i check the movies it's all there total running time is the same, what the??

the divx may be corrupt, try divxfivx or some repair apps.

open the movie in virtual dub, clip popup extended options before hitting ok.
Now choose avi compatibility mode and derive key frames.

If the whole movie is loaded without ANY errors, then you know that the movie is fine and you may need to reformat since every video editing\player you use crashes.
But, if it does give an error saying something like it has derived all frames it could or something like that, that means you have bad frame(s) and thats another topic. In that case, reply to this and tell us
