  1. I've got a tv out card on my pc which I've already used with another tv and it worked fine
Now I'm moved and I've got this old Hitachi tv and it shows the pc in black and white
Even if I plug the pc through my friend's dvd recorder then to the tv, when I turn the dvd on the EXT of the pc, it shows the dvd recorder in black and white
So I've decided to go back to my old house and record a movie from the pc using an external dvd recorder
Then I went back to my place and put the dvd into the PlayStation2 to discover then AGAIN the tv was playing it in black and white
Can someone explain me this please??
Should I buy a new tv?

  2. Couple of possiblities:

    1) The TV may be B/W. Hook up an external antenna. If it's B/W, then there you go.

    2) Check the color controls on the TV. I have an older RCA that I need to jimmy a matchbook cover into the knob to get the color to stay.

    3) Check ALL your cables. I have an older color unit that has an external RF DVD box on it, and if the yellow video cord isn't pushed in firmly, I get B/W and lots of annoying noise (friggin kids!)

    Good luck!

don't know what country you're so what video standard you should be using, but could be you have a NTSC disc instead of a PAL one, or vice versa.

  4. Ceedj thanks for the help
    I'm not a newcomer
I use a cable tv receiver and the TV is DEFINITELY colour
Plus I checked all the cables hundred of times
    Thanks a lot

I thought about the NTSC factor but now I've just brought over some new dvds I've been watching at some friends house and they are pi*at, obviuosly recorder from a file dowloaded from internet...and they're b/w too so...
    Something's wrong with the tv
it's like it's too old to show nex stuff properly, like it hasn't got the right codecs eheh which is stupid I know but it's the way it looks
I shall try with another tv

What type of connection are you using (composite/s-video). Some video and TV cards ship with onlys-video out, but the cable has an RCA plug at the TV end. Plug this into a composite (video-in) socket and you'll get B/W
