  1. Ritek 4X DVD-R G04 Silver Matte on Top
Ritek 4X DVD-R G04 Silver Shiny on Top

I just got some silver shiny top riteks the other day and I think they are much easier to write on then the silver matte top. The only thing is that the silver shiny top gets pretty dirty and covered with smudges if you don't be careful. I'm not sure which ones I should stick with in the future. Which riteks do you like?

what kind of marker do you use to write on these? Does anyone know a good finepoint dvd marker for these?

  6. I'm using all inkjet printables now myself, Riteks of course

Anyway besides being great for running through the printer for fancy graphics they are pretty good so far for just plain writing on too.
For my own backups I often use a marker first to just write around the edge what the disk is so it doesn't get lost. Then I latter print the disk, often when I have several to do all at once. Even for just plain marker writing these printables are pretty nice. When I was using gloss top cheapos I never had a marking problem anyway. Normally for marking I just use those CD/DVD markers you can get at walmart in a pack of like 4 colors. I have also used "CAREFULLY" sharpie fine point markers. I hate those things, but the wife uses them for stuff and often that's all I can find handy (kid misplaces my cd markers sometimes)

I usualy use a sharpie, however I started using Bic Grip Permanent markers as well. I also have a few CD markers that I bought off of Ebay that work good, they are made my Maxell.

I use TDK CD Markers. I tried Maxell CD Markers- didn't like 'em.

  10. I had to return the inkjet printable Riteks because they wouldn't work in my Plextor. The supermediastore.com recommend the matte top Ritek discs for maximum reliability with the majority of burners.

...That us until tomorrow when the newest run arrives and then who knows.

Bad burns. Lots of bad burns, especially on matte ones.

  12. I burn pretty much all matte finish G04's bought 50 at a time from Newegg and have not had a SINGLE bad burn in more than 250. Good burning is based on more than just the media in question. Your bus speed, RAM level, hard drive rpm/fragmentation, etc. all add up.

The blather about recent Ritek issues leaves me unconvinced. I now wouldn't buy anything else.

If this were the case, all media would burn bad in my case. It's simply poor QC at Ritek for many months now.

  14. I use matte sliver topped x4 Riteks and never have any problems with them, but prefer the shiny silver tops as they look better when printed with my TDK thermal printer.
