Has anyone tried these and knows who makes them for Target?

If you have no idea who makes them then you have no idea how to read media codes.

Which also means you probably don't test your discs.

When I say test your discs I mean running a READ ERROR test such as the one built-in to NERO or by using DVDInfoPro or best yet Kprobe.

It could be that your DVD discs are playing back OK but that doesn't mean they are problem free.

Only testing them with one of the mentioned programs will tell for sure.

I have tested discs with DVDInfo Pro and NERO Scandisc for read errors and they came up perfect. When I tried to play the disc on a variety of drives however, it always had problems. I have found the NERO verification option to be more useful.

SMB, can you please find out the media code for louv68 with DVDInfoPro?

  5. The discs are CMC-MAG. A quick search for that media tells me others would suggest to avoid it...but my original statement stands....

25 backups...no issues (with my equipment)

Fulci...do you do the READ ERROR test for every disc???? I guess I've never bought any DVD-R's that didn't burn correctly. I have backed-up 100's of disc's and I have never had a coaster. I may just be lucky....but it's the truth nonetheless.

    LOUV68 I hope this helps....

    Thank you smb,

I've not had good luck with CMC-MAG media so it's probably best for me to stay away from it. Wow, you've never had a coaster. I wish I were that lucky.
