Hi,
I have capture some old movies from my analogue video cam. I captured using VirtualVCR using the Huffhyv code for compression. Worked great. I now needs to do some cutting to remove stuff that I don't want etc. The target is then to create DVDs out of it.
So I now started to test with VirtualDub to remove some parts and do some filtering (Deinterlacing to start with). But I get a problem. I want to use Huffyuv again when saving the edited files. Everything seems to work fine in VirtualDub, I can save a avi file using that compression. Although when I want to try to play/open the file it both crashes my Windows Explorer and the program I use to open the file. In some way the resulting file is corrupt in one way or another. I made some tests outputting using divx or completely uncompressed format and it works great. It is only with Huffyuv that I get this result. Doesn't matter on which disk I output it, it always ends with a corrupt file that I can open.
Has anyone experienced this problem? I would think the Huffyuv codec should be OK since the captured files from VirtualVCR works perfect when opening and playing them. Could there be a problem to read a Huffyuv compressed file and outputting a Huffyuv compressed file at the same time in VirutalDub??? Heeeeelp!
By the way I should also mention that using direct stream copy for the video stream of course resulted in an OK file so I could do the cutting part. But using the filters I need to go into full processing mode and then a I need to do the compression again when outputting as I understand.
Regards
Micke

I've experienced this problem. I had to change capturing programs
to get rid of the problem. As I was in a hurry I did not investigate the
matter further. The corrupt problem occured on three different capturing
programs - no idea why I'm sorry to say.
