Strange freezing problem only on 1 player

I have a great portable mintek dvd player that plays everything i put into it without problems except for 2 movies. They freeze with about 30 mins or so left in the movie. I have read that cheap media can cause problems towards the end. The media I used for this as well as almost all my backups are RICOHJPNR01. Both movies play perfectly fine on my computer as well as 2 other standalone dvd players. I doubt it is the media or else it would freeze on 1 of those at least. I doubt its my Mintek because it plays 99.9% of the exact same disks without a problem. Any insights into this? Thanks

media are weird, i have a bunch of disks that are 100% readable on my pc, 99% readable on one DVD player, and lockup near the end on my two other players.

have you checked your player/media combo in the compatibility listings? since moving to ritekg04 discs i've yet to find a player that won't read them.

Yeah I checked it but theres nothing listed for the type of media used on my dvd player.

well the only things i can suggest are to a) make backups less than 4 gigs and b) try some other media/RW's.

Why would I want to try that? 99.9% of all my movies are fine. I was just curious as to why these 2 freeze only on 1 player. Thanks
