  1. I'm using DVD2AVI.dg with AviSynth, but the picture is way too dark. I did a quick search, but found no problems with YV12 decoding listed for ATI "ATIYUV12.dll".

    Unsatisfied, i opened RegEdit and began substituting a few other known YV12 decoders;

    ---------------------------------
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32]
    "VIDC.YV12"="DivX.dll"
    ---------------------------------

    Wow, big difference. So is there something wrong with the "ATIYUV12.dll"? Is the ATI definition of the standard different than everyone elses?

    Its only a All-In-Wonder 128, but if the driver is new i don't see any reason for the darkness.

    "Dark" on what?
    The tv is the only device that matters. Is this where it's dark?

  3. I'm converting to avi with VdubMod, with AviSynth. Picture looks almost dirty using "ATIYUV12.dll" to decode YV12, as compared to either "DivX.dll", or "XviD.dll" used to decode YV12.

    (from MPEG2Dec3 Readme)
    ---------------------------------
    Basic MPEG2Dec3 usage :
    To do plain YV12 decoding.

    MPEG2Source("dvd.d2v")
    ---------------------------------

    VDubMod report file as YV12, as i expected, and decodes with ATIYUV12.dll.

    I just don't understand why there would be any noticeable difference.

  5. At least someone is having a similar experience:
    https://www.videohelp.com/capturecards.php?CaptureCardRead=15

    "Windows XP installs by default (with or without an ATI card in the system) with the msyuv.dll file that can correctly decode the YUV colors"

    Maybe its a Win2k problem and not a "ATIYUV12.dll" problem.
