I´m trying to make a vcd from a DVD and use just one cd. I used smartripper to rip the movie to the HD and then I used dvd2avi like a frameserver to TMPGENC and so far it´s ok. In TMPGENC I configured the rate control mode to 2-pass VBR. The video has 128min. In the average bitrate I put 745 Kbit/s, Maximum bitrate = 2000kbit/s and the minimum bitrate =300kbit/s. The audio is 96Kbit/s. This was calculated with the VideoHelp Bitrate Calculator and according this the output file would have 797MB. The problem is that when it finished it was with 1,23GB and do not fit in one cd. I opened this file in virtualdub and in file information it is ok according to virtualdub the average bitrate is 744Kbit/s for video and 96Kbit/s for audio, and the file has 782MB!!! What is wrong?? The file in my disc has 1,23GB and virtualdub say it has 782MB. Where is the problem??? Please, someone help me cause Idid it several times and I have the same problem.

    Thank you,

    Daniel.

    Hi danielivo,

I can't help you with your filesize problem (sorry ), but would suggest you look into DVD2SVCD (it does VCDs too). It's a nice 'n' easy one-stop-shop (i.e. set it up and leave it to do its stuff) for DVDs to SVCDs, VCDs and other stuff too. Good thing for you is that it uses TMPGEnc, and it's freeware!

Hope that helps, and (if you stick with it) good luck with the filesize problem!

I´ve already used it and I´ve got the same problem. Maybe it´s a idiot configuration that I am doing wrong!

  4. Audio is PCM? Re-encode to mp2. Might make the difference.
