  1. I continue to get the following error message: "File err (DVDErr, -19013)" when attempting to import MPEG files created by ATI MMC v9.0 into Sonic MyDVD.

I have thorouhly read all the information provided by LordSmurf.com and have studied the very well done Capture Guides -> Capturing MPEG with an ATI card on that site.

I have tried VBR, CBR, various settings for video, 48 MHZ audio, and a variety of other settings. No file is accepted by the OEM Sonic MyDVD v4.5.2 Build 79428.

I could run out and buy a different authoring package, but I am unconvinced that it is the problem.

My first inclination would be to suspect the new ATI MMC v9.0. Are others using that new version of MMC? What settings work for direct MPEG-2 capture and import into MyDVD?

I use MMC and author with Tmpgenc Dvd Author. No problems and excellent results.

MyDVD is only useful to use as a jackstand when you're rotating your tires :P

  5. Sonic MyDVD was the problem. Thank you for convincing me.

I had a version of neo DVD v5.0 that I had never tried and was just collecting dust. It accepts the captures from ATI MMC 9.0 as per the custom settings that LordSmurf shows on his site.

I did find a quirk that I needed to work out. The neo DVD program was attempting to encode (more accurately, "re-encode") the files. I had to play with the Best - Better - Good settings to make it do a direct transfer.

Thanks for the help everyone. Sonic MyDVD will be relegated to the "jack stand" department.

Just be sur neoDVD5 does not re-encode, and it'll probably be okay.

However, I don't like that software much either.

I'd advise to only keep it until you get something better (TMGENC, DVDit!, ReelDVD, DVD-LAB, Encore, etc)
