  1. Hey guys, I've heard that dvd-r is more compatible than dvd+r, but +r has faster burn time. I am not sure about this stuff so can the experts help me on the differences? I have a "lite-on dvdrw 411s" burner with a "APEX 2110" dvd player. I've heard Ritek is a good brand, currently found a 50 pack of dvd-r for $41. But then looking at the dvd-rw and dvd+rw are only about $10 more for a 50 pack. Not sure how good the reqriteables are nowadays, EXPERTS. please help me!

    thanks guys.

    Probably 4 X

    Probably 1 X

What do you plan to use them for? And if they're 1 X you'll spend an hour writing the disk.

    DVD+RW can't be 1x.

    2.4x (23min) or 4x(15min)

And the LiteOn can bitset on it for maximum compatibility
You stop me again whilst I'm walking and I'll cut your fv<king Jacob's off.

-R is supported by the DVD Consortium. +R is not. Hence, I support +R with my every fibre.

+RW is supposed to feature something called lossless linking. No idea what that does, but the opposite, lossy linking, doesn't sound good.

If I have read the contents of this site correctly, only +R will support DL recording. Another reason to jump into the +R camp.

There never really has been a format war. The five formats (six once DL becomes a reality) seem to at least tolerate each others' existence enough to let the buyer decide. However, as a very informed buyer, I am far more in favour of the + formats. The DVD Consortium has just rubbed me up the wrong way too many times for me to consider supporting a format they prefer.
