  1. I'm using Fraps to record some clips of a game I play (Dark Age of Camelot). I already have all the footage I need for my video in the raw format that Fraps records to (about 5gigs of videos).

Now what I'm looking to do is use a video editing program to add text, music, effects etc. For example:

There is this scene where I want the video to pause for a couple of seconds and I want an arrow to point at a player in the game, and then resume. Also there is a part where I want the movie to run in slow motion.

I've already tried using Windows Movie Maker 2 but it looks like it doesnt give you that many options, just some basic stuff. I've been hearing a lot about Vegas and I'm willing to master this program because this is something I wanna keep doing for a while (doing game videos).

Also, I know that when people release their videos to the web they usually upload them to their site in DiVX format because this format has good quality and keeps a small size. My question is when should someone convert the video to DiVX, after all the editing is done or before you start?

So if anyone could link me to a good tutorial that explains all of this or give me a little help to start with this new hobby I'd really appreciate it.

    Hey man,

Ypor project sounds cool. I'm interested in doing the same thing with Unreal Tournament. What program do you use to capture the video? I would like to get it too. Also to try to help you, what is the type of video is the gaming captured as? DV, MPEG2, MPEG1? This will be useful information. I use Adobe premier pro for editing my DV clips of home movies and it works great. There are lots of tutorials onits use at wrigleyvideo.com. Vegas is very nice also but I couldn't figure it out. The only reason I was able to figure out premier is via the tutorials at wrigleyvideo.com.
I ususally do all of my editng and as last step convert it to the format that I want to use. I bet DivX 5 will do a great job on this gaming video, but i'm just assuming of course.
    Good luck,

    VC
    This is so much fun!
