  1. Everytime I try to record one of my tapes (so I can make it a dvd) with the Ati All in wonder 9200 card the record button greys out, then when I start the recording before had it pops up a window that says

This Broadcast Signal is protected from being recorded and can only be viewed. recording will be terminated.

is there anyway I can get around this? cause I spent $150 on this card and if I can't capture anything with it I don't see the point in having it & I doubt the store will take it back.

  2. The video card is detecting Macrovision copy protection. If you do a search on this site you can find the Macrovision crack for the MMC programs used by the ATI cards. I assume that is the program you are trying to capture with.

Implement the crack & you should be able to copy your VHS tapes (although I don't know why your home-made tapes will have Macrovision??!)

  3. How do I search the site? When ever I enter a search term it always searchs the forum.

and their not just home tapes their also tapes that you can't find anymore and there is no DVD version of.

edit: I use the search bar on the main page of the site and it only searches the forum.

  5. So I have to spend another $90 ontop of the $150 I already spent?

**** that, I had the $50 ati TV Wonder VE and never had this problem, yet I get the better version of it and I end up spending 4 times the ammount I did for the crappy version.

    To hell with ATI.

  6. It's not ATI falt they have to do what thay have to do you get the right's for DVD software. I have a Panasonic E80 I need the box to copy VHS to DVD. Hollywood is the big jerk here. There's a patch you can get at www.doom9.org it will stop the lock up's but the pciture might still get dark and light.

  7. If it's the file ATI Macrovision remover I tried that, 5 times and it didn't work.

I never had a problem with the ATI TV Wonder VE and it had the DVD stuff with it, even when I had upgraded to the latest driver (8.1 at the time) never got any problems about no being able to record.

It was hell trying to save up enough money just for this card, and now I find out that the cheaper no longer supported version is a hell of alot better is extreamly sad and pathetic.

I wouldn't be so pissed if ATI had atleast let me know on the box that it had macrovison protection for TV input from a VHS, but there wasn't any warning to it atleast not untill just now when I tried to record from a tape.

You're not allowed to do what you're trying to do ... not out of the box ... not after MPAA fixed things.

You want to break rules and go against the grain ... you need a TBC or anti-MV device or software/hacks.

Low quality BT/CX chips (ATI TV Wonders for examples) are not great quality, but yes, they are not picky on signal ... with the non-MV drivers.

Place blame where blame is due: MPAA.

Luckily breaking MV is not illegal, just an obstacle to keep normal people from doing what you're doing.

MV is just an artificial video error.

  9. I am glad I saw this thread. I was converting my uncles home movies to MPG2 and got the same error message? I was copying an old TV show from a re-recordable VHS tape. I thought the ATI card was just confused.
