I just recently upgraded my ATI AIW 9800 to a Leadtek A380 (GeForceFX 5950 256mb). I can't get it to produce the same high quality shading affects as the ATI. I have all the settings on max and it still won't produce the same quality. Anybody have any ideas? The only settings available are from the diplay proprties>settings>advanced>Geforce 5950>performance & quality... Is there something I'm missing?

Sorry but I would not call that an upgrade myself. I realise
you had a video recording problem but you could have got an ATI 9800 256 and bought a seperate video in card. The Nvida chipset is
no where as good as the ATI right at the moment as you are
    starting to discover.

Well it does perform better for 3d games. I was running Raven Shield with all the settings on high (including shadows) at 1600x1200 which the ATI couldn't do. I can't win...... Go from one problem to another. The Geforce was a replacement card from my Vendor. I didn't have to pay for it... It's about $75.00 more than the ATI. When you see Coal man goes postal on the national news you'll know it was me

  6. flaninacupboard,

First the above shots were not the 1st pair posted - which btw were
very different. 2nd the current pair is also slightly different, but you have
to look closely to see it. I do not *hate* Nvida, I have fond memories
of my 1st Voodoo card, my 1st Voodoo2 and the Riva chipset.

I do, however, hate ATI. I happen to use their products though... duh!!

the difference looks really obvious to me, similar to a bad resize or a maxed out VCD.

I'm assuming it's one of the filter stages not working right, or over sampling.

Coalman, what/where do you get the images from? curious to try on my card...
