  2. I don't know the technical reason why that happens, but I've read of problems with video being in B/W when viewing NTSC formated video through a PAL machine that converts to NTSC. When you view this tape on your player, what type of connection to your TV set are you using, SVHS, SCART,COAX,COMPOSITE...etc

  3. ancient,

The vcr is problably outputting NTSC tapes as PAL60. Most capture programs can't capture PAL60 because PAL60 is a mix between both PAL and NTSC. This link https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=194855&highlight=pal60 has some info about how to capture PAL60.

  4. Hi

I am using the Svhs Connector from thr vcr to a Svhs connector on the DC10 - I need a special convertor cable if there is a suggestion that i should try composite output as the tape is not S-vhs

Do you think that composite is worth a try

    The vcr is PAL 60

    The film is NSTC 29.97

regards and thanx for the prompt respose

  5. I do get colour leaving the dc10 card on PAL setting
Unfortunately i get an extended display in height with the bottom quarter of the display giving a gobbledegook (what a fantastic word) output

Is there a way to 'cut' this bottom section off.

    regards

  6. if you can capture the video on the pal setting and you have the gobbledegook at the bottom of the capture you can CLIP that out by re-encoding it with tmepenc. About using the composite...hell anything worth a try, just do a small test capture.

  8. dont know avisynth...but if you start tmpegenc and load your video and audio(if they are separate files) click SETTINGS button on bottom right hand corner, click ADVANCED then double click CLIP FRAME in the window to get to adjust the values.
