  1. I just upgraded my desktop box and plopped in a new motherboard, P4-2 CPU and a few extra fans...

I'm noticing that the CPU temperature for 'normal' operations is averaging 32-34 degrees (89 to 93 F)

When I tax the system via MPEG encoding, capturing, etc. the temp is jumping up to 40-42 (105 to 108 F)

    Is this normal operating temps?

I second that.. your temps don't look like they are anything to worry about
Big Government is Big Business.. just without a product and at twice the price... after all if the opposite of pro is con then wouldn’t the opposite of progress be congress?

Third opinion, everything is just fine. I have a couple machines with 2.4's and the idle at 31/32, get into the 40's occasionally. All normal.

purely from memory, the P4's are good up to 80C, so 42 is nothing to worry about.

  6. I was so concerned about this issue that I gave Intel a hollar...

They denoted that my particular CPU (P4-2Ghz) is good to 70 C -- "don't worry until you hit mid sixties"
