    3. You can convert MOV files with TMPGEnc. It requires a plugin:

It can also be done with Canpus Procoder or Quicktime PRo. Hope this helps.

Quicktime Pro exports as mpeg-1? You sure about that? How is this done?

  6. Yea I'm using a Mac.... And quicktime Pro can convert to MP4 but not mpeg1, which is a pain, because by converting to mpeg4, mac users on the older operating system cannot open the file.... so its a bummer for me. Tried to use ffmpegx but lost all audio, so Im kinda stuck @ the moment.... any help greatly appreciated..

  7. I'm not a Mac person but.........

Are you able to split the audio from video, an maybe convert them separately? If you can successfully convert the .MOV to mpeg video it would be ashame to throw it away your hard work.

If you export the file from Quicktime to audio only, and then convert it separately, you could remux with another tool.

ProjectX is java based. (supposed to be multiplatform)

I think there is also a port of BBTools for the Mac, (or at least the source code is available), to Mux the audio and video together.

    woah woah woah
    clarification needed
    1. quicktime pro can export to mpeg1. It called Toast VCD Export
    2. quicktime pro can export also to mpeg4. Any comptuer with Quicktime 6.5 can open that particular file, Mac or PC

open your .mov in quicktime, choose Export and then choose the Toast VCD option. mpeg1 will be the exported file

ffmpegx can handle it also, you can also post in the ffmpegx forum here for more clarification https://www.videohelp.com/forum/index.php?c=6

likewise, there is a Mac Video forum here as well if you wish to learn more about general macintosh video https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=9
