  1. Hi,

I have this very strange problem that I just can't figure it out!!

I want to record the visuals played on my computer monitor with my Sony miniDV camera and make a DVD.

I set the video to play fullscreen, connect the miniDV cam through S-video out and hit record. Recorded images are totally fullscreen in the camera's screen. Even when I connect the camera to a TV moinitor and the images are still full screen.

"BUT" when I connect the camera through firewire to my laptop (Dell Insipron) to capture the image for some reason there are big huge black borders around it and that's how I end up capturing. My video card is Radeon 7500. I tried with FCP, Adobe Premiere, 640x480, 800x600, and the result is the same....

What I don't understand is that why do the black borders get added automatically although the video is captured fullscreen and display correctly on the monitors?? Is this firewire thing? I have heard the term "overscan" and if this is what I have to adjust where can I set it up?

Any suggestions or opinions will be highly appreciated.

    Thanks bunch in advance

    Eazy

  2. You say it looks right on your TV monitor and that's exactly what the border is for. If it wasn't there than a TV's overscan would chop the picture itself off on the sides and top and bottom. A computer monitor doesn't overscan which is why you can see the border on your laptop.
If this disc is for use with a standalone on a TV you should just leave it IMO.
