Alright, I think Nero Digital is an awesome format and love almost everything about it.. Unfortunatlely, I have been unable to get it to encode a movie using AC3. I have read that is uses AAC for the sound format but I do not know if that is 5.1 or how to get it to play. Ultimately, my only goal is to rip a DVD using the Nero Digital codec and allow the movie to play 5.1 surround sound on my external sound blaster Extigy. How this is done I really have no preference. Whether it is by editing the mp4 file and adding AC3 or if there is another way. I've been looking in a lot of forums and websites and cant seem to find the answer to my problems and I would appreciate any help or input anyone may have. Thanx

The AAC audio in Nero Digital is only 2 channel. I don't believe there are any tools that allow you to mux 5.1 channel sound into .mp4 files. If you want good mpeg-4 video with 5.1 sound you should use Divx/Xvid and ac3 audio. Both Divx and Xvid are better compressors than Nero Digital, they're just slower to encode. That's the only advantage that Nero Digital has going for it because my unscientific tests show it to be a slightly inferior video compressor compared to Divx/Xvid.
