Thanks to the generosity of Liteon I now have my first Dual Layer burner and some limited media for testing. The drive is using a different chipset to other Liteons including the 812s
Technical docs are very scarce, if anyone can assist here please contact me
cheers

Let us know how you're burned DL disks read on players tested. I thought Lite-on wasn't going to have a dual layer burner till late in the summer. I assume by media you mean dual layer media.

Yes, its a DL drive and its the Liteon SOHW-832s, Yes they gave me some blank DL media to try, but at $50.00US per disc I am not going to waste them until I have some good tests to do, and I need them blank at first to do all the blank disc routines in dvdinfopro.
I will give other info as necessary and I am happy to answer any questions anyone may have.
The drive is 8x -R/+R, 4x -RW/+RW, 2.4x +R9-DL
cheers

Good idea. You don't want to screw those $50 blanks up. Also when you have time can you tell us what the identifier/manufacturer is of the blanks?
So its an SOHW-832s hey ....... how do you know the chipset is different from the 812, Lite-on tell you that? -

There's some amount of anti-Nic flaming over at the CDF forum. Based on stories that I've heard from both sides, I'll have to side with the CDF mods on this. Even though on first glance, it seems like the CDF mod is being unfairly abusive (especially after I read a post with Nic's side of the story), I recommend that people keep an open mind because if you hear the CDF side of the story (if you could get them to stop being mum about it, that is), it is an eye-opener. -
with the liteon dual layer can you use the media that is out now..
or do you have only be able to use the dual layer disks.. -
I believe you can use single layer disks with any dual layer burner that comes out, of course what Nic has it a prototype and may not be out for weeks to months.

812@832 should be possible.
Nic may also offer his own "mod" for 812@832, which 1) is not recommended by the experts over at CDF and 2) is very hypocritical, after he got on his high horse about it being unethical and how he won't bite the hand that feeds him (LiteOn). Go to the CDF forums for more info, if you are curious. -
