  1. I recently purchased a DVD rewriter and did not know there was 2 formats of DVD (+/-). The rewriter that I have purchased only records DVD+R(W).

I have a question. I have backed up a DVD onto one of these disks and when I play it back, in places is breaks up (just like watching satellite tv, when the signal drops). Is it becuase of the DVD recording being poor or is is becuase it is a DVD+R disc (Bulkpac disc). If it is the case I will sell it on Ebay and purchase one which is multi format

I have checked my DVD player (Pioneer DV-55) and it is compatible with this media.

    Any advise would be appreciated

  3. Not cheap media. Apparently Bulkpac is the most popular media in Europe. Was a little cheap, but purchased because of it popularity.

Maybe i should try another brand?????

Have you tried playing back the DVD+R on more than just one DVD player?

Some DVD players handle DVD+R discs better than other models.

Although the problem sounds like bad media. Could be a bad batch. Could be your burner doesn't like that type of media. Could be your stand alone DVD player doesn't like that type of media.

  6. Oh dear!

The media plays OK on my laptop. Looks like i will have to sell the rewriter and buy one that supports both formats.

    Thanks for your help.

Do you have any recommendations on good but not too pricy media???

i'd think a dvd player would be cheaper($30 here in the states these days) than to replace and buy another burner....buts thats just my opinion

To be honest, if a DVD Player doesn't support a format (DVD+R/-R) it won't even load it. Since it does load, it is supported, it just doesn't play well

Cheap media is to blame 90% of the time for skipping/stuttering.

Isn't Bulkpaq MEDIA ID001? If so, this is the +R equal to Princo/Longten. Cheap media.

Datasafe (~83P/each) would be a great brand to try and Arita (~59P/each), or any major (Verbatim, TDK, Ritek) brand name.

    Bulkpaq =cheap media =popularity.

I go to my local computer fair once a month and Bulkpaq is ALWAYS the CHEAPEST . and that is why so many people buy it. There are plenty of discs with Ritek G04 Dye on but a lot of naive people don't get them just to save 2 - 3 pounds on a spindle of 25.

  12. It is to be expected that people here in Euope try the cheap media first, because of the prices. In the Netherlands a pack of 25 Arita 4x +R costs about €38=46 US $. That's 1,84 $ a piece.

If you're not sure what brand/mediacode to by, try to find a supplier that sells test-packages.

    Good luck.
