  1. I have been having difficulty burning my MPEG-1 to VCD. I thought I had the problem solved by changing the Source Aspect Ratio, however, I discovered that wasn't the problem. I am using Nero 5.5 to burn and I converted using TMPGEnc. Nero will recognize the file if I do not cut it in TMPGEnc, but as soon as I cut the file using the MPEG Tools to make it fit onto the CD-R it says that it is not compatible for a VCD 2.0 Does anybody know why this is happening? Is there a way to prevent this so that I won't have to convert in TMPGEnc for the seperate halves of the VCD? Thanks

Nero can be funny with video files out of TMPG use VCDEasy to make it VCD compliant and you should have no troubles.

  3. Looks like a simple mistake to me: when using the MPEG Tools within TMPGEnc for cutting, there s a little idiosynchrasy you have to know:

Even though your original file may already be VCD compliant, you have to remind TMPGENc that you also want the resulting file to be VCD compliant.

It s counterintuitive but that s the way it goes. The stream type at the top of the window defaults to MPEG1. Make sure you change it to MPEG1 (VCD). Once you do that, resulting files will be recognised as VCD compliant by Nero 5.5 or 6.xx. At least that s the way it goes on my machine.

    Cheers

Think you hit the nail on the head there

You could also select MPEG1 VCD (non standard) and nero won't complain either (I only needed this when doing 2 pass vbr 16:9 vcd's)
