So I took a chance and ordered a Canon S1 from centraldigital.com. It should have shipped out by now, but it's probably one of those listed in stock when it really isn't things.

Anyway, do you shop online? If so, what for?

I buy most of my computer stuff online for two reasons. It's usually cheaper, even with the shipping to Hawaii. The other, more important reason, is that I've yet to find a local computer store with even half decent service. If I wanted to get greeted by a bunch of sassy nerds, I would just take a trip back to high school and hang out in the computer room.

I'd say 80% of my shopping is online, and on that topic resellerratings.com is an excellent resouce.

had a problem like your when I ordered my 15" LCD montior, 5 days after the order I finally get them on the phone and the reason? "We've not had those in stock for a month." Well nice just of letting me know that random never purchased from again company.

So I got it somewhere else, would have went to newegg but they were out of stock at the time also.

  3. I do my 99.99% Shopping Online, it's been year since saw bestbuy or anyother non grocery store. But must go and check the Electric Product which is costly, just to see the quality and details but order it online after I compare my prices at yahoo.com , cnet.com and other stores. Always saves 20 to 30%.

I shop online for computer equipment, DVDs and books. But I only do it when I know I'm going to be in when they deliver, otherwise I try and get it from a store or shop.
    Regards,

Man, I feel for you. I had my identity stolen just bout the time that I got married. Guess how I found out. My Visa had been cancelled and I tried to use it when I took my family out and newlywed wife out to dinner at a fancy restaurant. I thought it was just a machine mistake, until I called the bank the next day.

It took me about a year to sort everything out. Identity theft was just starting to pop up, so the police didn't really know how to help me. I pretty much had to do everything myself.

The first thing you should do is contact your bank and the three major credit agencies and ask for a copy of your credit report. That will show if the person has attempted or succesfully created new cards in your name. One company is equifax. I don't have the infomation with me, but I'll gladly dig it up if you want the names and numbers of the other two comapnies.

  7. I was dead set against it in the begining (about 7 years ago), but now I've started buying more and more things online. Things I don't eat or have to try on first. Heck I can't even buy clothes in a deparment store without having to return something. It would be a huge hassel to do it online. So for now it's only when I can find a deal that at least saves me 20% or better.....Thebest deal I got online was a medela pump for my wife (listen up Will Hay) The best price in stores were around $350 and I got it online for $200 no tax and free shipping....

I do most of my shopping online. Type in what I want, and let the search engine do the rest. I usually pay by money order, so no identity theft worries for me, although it takes a little patience. I use PayPal once in a while for really cheap purchases, but being out of the U.S., these methods really come in handy.

How's that work out for you? Do you have APO/FPO service? I used to work at a post office. It was pretty cool when military families would ship things to countries like Germany or Japan with a US zip code and postage rates.

Actually it works pretty well. Yes, I have an APO box. Express usually takes five days, rather than overnight, and Priority takes about seven days. Every family has an APO box, so if we have a package, we receive a notice and have to go to the post office to pick it up. We can also receive mail through the country's postal service and have it shipped to our homes if we like, but the USPS is more of a personal choice rather than a necessity.
    Hello.

  13. I make all non grocery purchases online, though I will pick up a game or cd or mag on occasion when schlepping through the Super Target getting my hygiene products.

I had my identity stolen, but it was before I ever even had a credit card, about six years ago…some bubba was using my SSN to open accounts all over Indiana, after I learned this, I let my brother go after the guy (nice to have a prosecutor in the family), and now he is sitting in jail for another 2 years, turns out he was runnin’ drugs also.

Now I have two cards that are for all my OFFLINE purchases, and a single card for all of my ONLINE purchases, helps in keeping things nice and neat.

One of the reasons why I have one of my credit cards is because it lets you log in and get a one time use credit card with a limit. So if I want to buy something for $30, I can create a one time use credit card with a limit of $30.

I like it for large ticket items i dont need asap. In the states, u can save a considerable amount in state sales tax. ie-a $1000 inflatable companion would cost about $65 in sales tax.

I've never considered the savings in sales tax. 4.167% is added to everything in Hawaii. That's pretty decent added savings for items above $200.

It does depend on the state. The seller cannot have a retail outlet in your state if u want to nix the tax. With a store like the Gap u are screwed because there are outlets in all 50 states. Electronics tend to be a different story.
