Divx players have been out for a while now and they will continue to get better. I own 2 of them myself. My question to anyone is this.
If you had the option of viewing Divx or DVD on your TV via a standalone player, how would you rather encode your material? Divx or Mpeg2 (DVD)?
With Divx you can get a lot more on a DVD but no menus and chapters.
With DVD you get one movie (depending on the length) per DVD. Just curious to what others think about this.

Divx players are still pretty hard to find here in NY. For compatability I would go with MPEG2
No, I'm from Iowa. I only work in outer space. -
Menus and chapters aren't very important to me. Putting 6-8 hours of good quality video via mpeg-4 is pretty damned appealing to me.

Babyboo....Im in Manhattan and I just bougbt a divx compatable from Compusa (the Philips DVP642) and its great....and only $69
For the rest...I always try to get quality...so it really depends on my source material...if my source is already mpeg2...I'll keep it that way...
It also depends on if I want to give someone else the disc. Most people DONT have divx compatable players...so making it divx or xvid for me kinda screws anyone else I want to have it. -
